You have put the work in to raise your prices. Now make sure every customer who is due for their next service actually gets booked. Rebookd sends automatic SMS reminders when annual service customers fall due, so the revenue at your new rate keeps flowing without someone working the phone list every month.
Be direct and give enough notice. Explain the reason briefly, acknowledge that any increase is unwelcome, and tell them the new price and when it applies. Customers who feel respected generally stay. Customers who feel surprised or misled often leave. A warm, plain-language letter works better than a formal or corporate-sounding one.
For trade service businesses, four to six weeks notice is standard and respectful. It gives customers time to plan and shows you are not springing it on them. For annual service customers, notice before their next scheduled booking is the minimum. The more notice, the better the goodwill.
The most credible reasons are rising operating costs such as fuel, materials and insurance; that the price has not increased for several years and no longer reflects what it costs to deliver the service; or that you have expanded what is included. Avoid vague statements. Specific reasons land better with customers.
For most Australian trade businesses, SMS or email is more practical than post and gets read much faster. SMS open rates are significantly higher than email. A short, direct SMS with a brief reason and the new price is often more effective than a long letter. The generator above creates both a full letter and an SMS version.
